Position: Software Engineer

We require a Software engineers with skills in web based application development. This is an ideal position for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to work within a dynamic development team to deliver cutting edge software. The successful applicant will design and develop robust, secure and scalable PHP / MySQL web based solutions incorporating the latest Web 2.0 technologies and Web Services. There may also be requirements to develop image analysis algorithms and server based systems using Java.

Qualification: Educated to degree level in a computer science or related discipline.

Experience: 1 - 2 years experience developing web-based applications or general software engineering.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Candidate must be proficient in the following: PHP, JavaScript and also possess good MySQL (or equivalent DBMS) skills.
  • Good knowledge of XML.
  • Candidate must have experience in designing and developing projects using Java.
  • Knowledge of the software life-cycle and object-oriented design principles.

Non-Essential Technical Skills:

  • Experience using a version control system like CVS or SVN.
  • Knowledge of the Apache web server and fast-cgi modules.
  • Comfortable working with Windows and Linux based systems.
  • Experience using the Eclipse IDE.
  • Experience developing using new web based technologies and frameworks such as AJAX, GWT.

Other Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven problem solving abilities.
  • Deadline driven and a good team player.
  • Good documentation and technical writing skills

24-July-2007 - Marie Curie Research Fellow
We require a Research Fellow for a contract position offered by SlidePath and involving collaboration with an academic partner.
SlidePath is an industrial partner in the Marie Curie Target Breast Consortium and is collaborating with the academic partner Lund University, Sweden.
The position will involve a transfer of the research fellow from SlidePath to Lund University for a 12 month period. The Target Breast programme aims to contribute to the identification of novel marker systems for predicting the progression and therapeutic response of human breast tumours, as well as the identification of new pathways for preventing disease progression and treatment resistance.
The aim of SlidePath and Lund University's interaction is to implement an automated high throughput TMA biomarker discovery and validation workflow.
