Position: Support & Implementations Engineer

We require a product support and implementations engineer to provide both on-site and remote support. Primary duties will include configuration, implementation and upgrades of software on Windows and Linux based servers and the provision of software and hardware support. Candidates must be interested in systems administration and cutting edge web trends and technologies. Candidate may also be utilised as a software development resource from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Take direction from CTO and Team Leaders to install, configure and upgrade software on in-house servers and client systems
  • Produce checklists prior to each install / site visit to ensure the customer environment is ready to receive software
  • Occassionly provide development and testing support for CTO and Team Leaders
  • Provide post-installation testing support including systems integration, user acceptance and fail over testing
  • To provide frontline support during product rollout and migration phases
  • Provide ongoing customer support after software rollout
  • To liaise daily with the Project Team Lead on all matters relating to customer implementations
  • To research new technologies and to test the latest components

Qualification: Educated to degree level in a computer science or related discipline.

Experience: 2 - 3 years experience in systems administration type role. Experience in customer support type role is also essential.

Required Skills:

  • Good trouble-shooting skills
  • Knowledge of UNIX command shell environment
  • Must be comfortable using Windows variants (mainly Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2000/XP) and Linux based systems (mainly SuSe, Ubuntu and Gentoo)
  • Experience installing and configuring the Apache web server, MySQL and PHP
  • Good knowledge of computer networks and computer hardware in general
  • Basic skills in web development (PHP, HTML, JavaScript)
  • Vendors certification (Microsoft, Cisco, Exin) is an advantage

Other Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven problem solving abilities.
  • Deadline driven and a good team player.
  • Good documentation and technical writing skills

Non-Essential Skills and Experience:

  • MySQL database optimisation
  • Java and C++ programming knowledge
  • Experience using the Eclipse IDE
  • Experience using a version control system like CVS or SVN

New 24-July-2007 - Marie Curie Research Fellow
We require a Research Fellow for a contract position offered by SlidePath and involving collaboration with an academic partner.
SlidePath is an industrial partner in the Marie Curie Target Breast Consortium and is collaborating with the academic partner Lund University, Sweden.
The position will involve a transfer of the research fellow from SlidePath to Lund University for a 12 month period. The Target Breast programme aims to contribute to the identification of novel marker systems for predicting the progression and therapeutic response of human breast tumours, as well as the identification of new pathways for preventing disease progression and treatment resistance.
The aim of SlidePath and Lund University's interaction is to implement an automated high throughput TMA biomarker discovery and validation workflow.
