“SlidePath deliver a biobanking database for the Prostate Cancer Research Consortium”
The Prostate Cancer Research Consortium unites 22 principal investigators from 6 affiliated sites in a combined effort to identify novel disease biomarkers that allow earlier detection and more reliable prognosis. The PCRC adopted SlidePath’s Distiller as a web-enabled central biobank data repository for the storage and retrieval of clinical, pathological and omic data, with the aim of compiling and sharing cancer research data and sample tracking in four hospitals and two research laboratories.
The Distiller solution provided unique workflows for distinct user groups to interact with the repository. Surgeons, clinical research nurses, pathologists, oncologists and molecular scientists all use the system and easily controlled access levels enable the biobank administrator to regulate data visibility for individual user groups. For example, study nurses in each hospital see only the data relating to their patients, while researchers see all records but do not have access to sensitive patient information, thus complying with local Data Protection laws.
